It appears to be less about using industry models and more about which designer can lure in notorious reality stars to walk for them and help create a buzz for their label.
And indeed - after Avril Lavigne had Kylie Jenner strut her stuff for the Abbey Dawn show, and Sherri Hill also used Kylie and sister Kendall - television personality Kate Gosselin was next in line.
Model behaviour: Kate Gosselin was a vision in

the Real Fashion, Real Women show, benefiting Bottomless Closet - held
at the Empire Hotel
The mother-of-eight, 37, debuted on the catwalk at Empire Hotel yesterday, showcasing various outfits during celebrity stylist Derek Warburton's turn on the runway for Real Fashion, Real Women.
Credit where it's due, 38-year-old Warburton - also known as Derek Fabulous - was hosting the event for a good cause, in honour of benefiting New York-based charity Bottomless Closet.
But a wave of criticism hit the Internet, with Twitter users expressing their disdain over using Kate.
Not your typical model: Kate looked pretty good to most normal women - having had eight children
One user wrote: 'The last thing I think anyone wants to see on a #NYFW runway is Kate Gosselin.'
Other scathing (if slightly comedic) attacks included: 'Kate who? #15minsareup', 'Oh, ew... ', 'First sign of the apocalypse?' and 'Okay, now I really want to move to another country.'
But Derek defended his decision to use the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star, despite the negative feedback.
Speaking to the Huffington Post, Derek said: 'Kate is so nice, sweet and accommodating and cool.

'What's remarkable is every time we get a nasty tweet about Kate, she writes and apologises.
'She doesn't care about the haters, but she cares about us, the charity. She must have apologised to me five times for what people say about her.'
